Fitness Friends was inspired by a friend of ours who wanted to start jogging. None of her friends were intersted in exercising with her and, like many women, she didn't want to brave the streets alone! The local running club was too serious for what she wanted so we came up with the idea of a website where people can meet up to exercise together.
The team consists of a small group of friendly modern pentathletes based in Bath who recognise the fitness needs of others, from recreational sports people to elite athletes. All of us understand the value of being healthy and physically acitive. We all have a strong background in sport at a high level and appreciate the benefit of training with others. We also acknowledge that for people who have not always been invloved with sport or physical recreation it can be difficult to start. We hope that the FFNetwork will give people the opportunity to meet others with similar fitness ambitions and make it a little easier to begin.
Giles has spent the last decade competing at the highest level as a modern pentathlete for Great Britain. He has represented his country numerous times at European and World championships. Unfortunatley he has been hampered by knee problems and is now coaching modern pentathlon at Whitgift School in Croydon. He still thoroughly enjoys his sport at a recreational level, especially the odd round of golf in his spare time.
Charlie is currently training for modern pentathlon and has represented Great Britain in the World Championships and various World Cup Competitions. Charlie studied for a degree in Psychology at Durham University where he graduated with 2:1 honours. He is also an NLP Practitioner. Since graduating four years ago, Charlie has been serving in the British Army as an officer in the Royal Horse Artillery, including operational duties in Iraq. As well as being an elite athlete, he has a keen interested in many other sports including golf, tennins, rugby and squash.
Lindsey is also currently training for modern pentathlon. She won a bronze medal at the Junior World championships in 2003 and was 7th at Senior European championships in 2004. You can find out more about her sporting achievements by visiting her website at www.lindseyweedon.co.uk. Lindsey graduated from the University of Bath a year ago with a 2:1 in Sport and Exercise Science. She takes an interest in most sports and has a love for climbing and skiing.
